Thankful for the ability to vent on this blog and then hurry and erase it!!!! And I don't want to sound "GRIM" so I'll just say I am thankful that I had a great example of parents who were always prepared. Thankful that in my childhood we enjoyed the simple things and in the good ol'day's we knew how to have fun without the latest gadgets. So if you read my earlier post.... I'll still be watching the Waltons to remember to be humble....
Thankful that "IT WILL BE OK..." Happy to be Optimistic about LIFE in general. and we are SMILING.
p.s. I got a great night sleep! and Clark had a 30 minute shower!!(He actually missed me scrubbing his back!)
Clark said he had to turn his head to unlock the IV! It's true, sometimes the medicine wouldn't flo through the vein depending on if his arm or neck was bent or turned.
The IV line was the length of his arm inside has vein.
Clark is CELEBRATING. "IT FEELS LIKE CHRISTMAS" he yells! As he is singing "JOY TO THE WORLD" Our latest Hero and now good friend Nurse Pam is pulling Clarks pic line. NO MORE IV! He's had it in since August 13th. Yes....Clark can shower. I can sleep in. YOO-HOO!

This lamp doesn't look like much. It's a heavy duty antique probably over 50 years old. I've hauled it all over the country because it was my Grandma Bakers. It had a lightbulb socket that they don't make lights for anymore so Elder Albaugh put in a regular fixture so it works again. It means a lot to me to have it working. THANKS TO ELDER ALBAUGH!
Bruce and Melba Burchelle invited us to go with them to Flint Oaks for Dinner. It is a hunting resort near Fall River, Kansas. We just had so much fun. The food was amazing, the atmosphere is any mans dream!!
My favorite saying is "After every RAINSTORM follows the RAINBOW" Shew... You have to survive the bad to appreciate the good! And we can see SUNSHINE.

Yes, it is the season again for the best apples ever. Clark has already went through 2 bags of Jonathon's. Robert is right, Fall means good memories of apples. Just taking a trip up Huntington Canyon to Sealey's Orchard and buying boxes, and boxes of Apples! Which leads me to one of Clark's childhood memories of sitting up in Grandma Mills trees with a salt shaker and eating green apples. My memories of my childhood home in American Fork are picking buckets of little yucky apples and throwing them...playing war with our neighborhood friends. But more than that actually, I have good memories of going to the Mayne's apple orchard and picking and eating the best red delicious apples ever! Also the tradition of making Carmel apples every fall. I miss my friend Jill's apples, She makes Carmel apples to die for! I'm going to have to make some Carmel apples soon!
Sept. 17th-- Just spent the day at the Dr. with Clark. I'm so excited... In one of the magazines it had *Mini Carmeled Apples- so cute! You use a melon baller to scoop a circle out of a Granny Smith. (16?)Put a small sucker stick in it and dip it. Melted butterscotch or peanut butter choc. chips. I would use real carmel. Set them in small muffin papers. Perfect size!
This is the Walnut River Bridge, usually water is 10 to 12 feet under it. At 1:00 this afternoon the water was at the hand rail.(Elyse this is the bridge we took to the walking path) They have evacuated the apartments and people east of the river. Thank goodness we are on the west. Clark said El Dorado refinery has measured 8 inches today and probably the same yesterday. Here in Kansas about every home has a sump pump. Our pump has been pumping non stop since yesterday. We are still blessed we aren't in Texas or Louisiana. This weather is tough stuff.
Each morning we rise at 5:00 am to start the morning IV and our routine begins. Six weeks ago Sister Albaugh(missionary who lives with us) was called to be the early morning seminary teacher. Her condition was if she could do it in our home. So She has four students that arrive a 6:00 am for Bible Study. Five days a week. Kids in our church that live further go to seminary on Wednesday nights(which means they have home study the other days of the week). This year they are studying the New Testament. Coming from Utah where our school system gave released time during the school schedule for seminary didn't seem such of a sacrifice, although just as important. Two of the students live 20 and 30 minutes away. They arrive each morning Sing a hymn, pray, and study. It's pretty awesome to see how diligent they are. How important God is in their lives and how much it means to them to read the scriptures everyday. It's fun to hear them first thing in the morning. We are thankful for the opportunities that we have while having the missionaries in our home.

The Harvest marks the end of the growing season. Always Thankful that the season provided us with such bounty.
I'm just remembering all of the summers of gardening, canning, cleaning. Getting ready for the winter. I knew I was crazy when the satisfaction of seeing my counters full of freshly bottled peaches,tomatoes, apricots etc. made me feel like I had accomplished the world. I haven't bottled anything lately. Kansas has no fruit orchards that we have found anywhere. Gardens grow great. We attempted a few tomato plants in pots but we have spoiled our selves by getting our garden veggies at a farmers market. I am really missing the harvest season. Our family was discussing how hard we 'Bakers' worked when we were growing up on the 'Bakers Acre'. Dad always planted a beautiful garden. Dad and Mom would pick wheelbarrows full of peas, green beans, Corn. We would gather on the back lawn and pod the peas, snap beans or husk corn. One of my best memories is the neighborhood gang of kids came over to join the FUN! Thankfully I learned to enjoyed the canning proceedure when we had our own little family.
We also had the experience with Clarks family of growing our own meat. Cow's, chicken, pigs, turkeys, etc. Those were hard, hard working days. But we had to feel blessed that every family member always enjoyed a freezer full. I rarely bought meat from the store while living in Utah. It was so great to be self sufficient.
Memories of THE HARVEST make me appreciate my own parents teaching us to always be prepared and take care of ourselves. Clarks parents for teaching our family all the value of hard work on the farm.
The joy of growing it all ourselves. To make the most all things in there SEASON.
A KANSAS CREEK
So I am Thankful that in Kansas it stay's green longer than normal. It is cooler outside. So for the first time all summer we have been able to sit out on the deck and enjoy all the fall plants. My mums are just starting to bloom. The dianthus is going crazy with color. I get so excited with each new season. Love fall but especially love this area for all the GREEN around us. It is beautiful. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
It's COOL, there is a breeze and my air conditioner is OFF. Sprinking system is OFF. Feels like fall in the air. Thankful God allows us to expericence four beautiful seasons.
So today we are Thankful that yes...Clark is feeling STRONGER EVERY DAY! Clark is attempting work today. We have had a great holiday with Tyrel and Danielle. Although we just sat around the house mostly. They have helped us forget the TOE! So for that we are thankful. It will be hard to see them go back home. Just---SOOOO reminds us how much we miss ALL of our kids and can't wait to live closer.
