Thankful Thursday: THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR

EXTREMELY THANKFUL TODAY.   Started my new job yesterday. As I worked today I had a open view of what is around me. I could already write a book about what I saw and felt.  It reminded me...THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR!

Thankful Tuesday: Some 'HUNTING' Memories

Mt. Timpanogas. In Utah. (Pic stolen from my cousin) When I saw it I wanted to cry.
This mountain has significant meaning to me. As a child/youth we practically lived in this area. All of our family SUMMERS were spent camping and hiking in American Fork Canyon. I have hiked to the top of Timp. 9 times. I think its an 18 mile hike. My Dad and Brothers also spent a few Octobers HUNTING in this canyon. I remember one hunt in particular. I got to go. So my Mom packed us all a 'survival' treat bag. Honestly that's all I remember except for maybe a few hikes.  I remember the times when they brought a deer home and hung it in the ol' willow tree in the back yard.
Now when I got married. We were a whole lot more serious about hunting.
Mr. Clark's family made a big camping outing of the opening weekend of the deer hunts. With all of their friends and all of our friends and all the relatives.
I have no pictures...
I loved the brisk cold days. No matter the weather. Often SNOW.  When we all got up before dawn. and drove to our lookout. And enjoyed hot chocolate and goodies, often homemade cinnamon rolls or donuts. Waiting for the sun to come over the rise.
It's fun to remember those times. I love to remember having my kids of all ages again.
I continued the tradition of my Mom. I packed a 'survival' goodie bag for each of my kids each time we went out hunting. It wasn't in Amercan Fork Canyon anymore. But the mountains of Huntington Canyon/East Mountain/Ferron/Skyview.
Some of my favorite memories were those of  chaining up and pushing through deep, deep, snow.
Getting stuck in the mud. The adrenaline of knowing we'd have meat in our freezer for another season.
Rolling out the oysters and crackers and beef jerky.
Coming back to camp at dark and eating hot chili and huddling around the camp fire.
Now every October we get the 'hunt' fever when the cooler temperatures kick in and we know we will miss yet another 'Opening Morning'.
It was more about being with family and friends then actually getting a deer.
And because we are away from family we really treasure these memories.
For this I AM THANKFUL.

Thankful Tuesday: Sense of a Goose

Another reason
I LOVE FALL
I love watching the Geese
Fly South!
Especially in KANSAS!
The amount of birds here is incredible.
I love the little birds flying in massive groups
attempting to get some where
TOGETHER.
And I found this little theory:
Seeing Geese flying in a V formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following.
By flying in a V formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 percent greater flying range than if a bird flew on it own.
People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily, because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.
When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.
If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those people who are headed the same way we are.
When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point.
It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs, whether people or with geese flying south.
Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up with their speed.
What a message do we give when we honk from behind?
Finally---and this is important---when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshot, and falls out of the formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies; and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.
If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that.
Author Unknown
I love this theory!
For this reason I AM THANKFUL
To all of those people who HONK at me to encourage me,
and continue to stand beside me
until I catch up!

We recieved a letter today with info about getting a flu shot from Kansas University Medical Center to all pre and post kidney transplant patients.
Maybe we will know more on Friday when he meets with his Kidney Specialist. Wooo hoooo

A great Message to my Friends! XO

Thankful Tuesday: A New Job...

Well
I've been
job hunting...
I've been out of the work force for 3 yrs.
I'm about crazy!
My
wishes?
A job that I can take the time
to take care of
 Mr. Clark.
And...
be free
on the weekends
And...
be free to go see my kids when I need to.
Sound impossible?
Well
Thanks to a good friend
she suggested being a sub for para-educators.
I AM NOW EMPLOYED!!!
I can choose when I work.
I have weekends,
holidays
and summers
OFF.
Enough to get me out of the house!
FOR THIS I AM THANKFUL!
p.s Mr, Clark got his glucose monitor installed yesterday.  This monitor automatically checks his blood sugar every 5 min. and acts as a partner to his pump with helpful information. So he is warned if he is dropping low or getting too high on his blood sugars. We are so excited to see how this will help him be in better control of his diabetes.
THANKFUL FOR MODERN TECHNOLOGY
soon they will make an artificial pancreas.
Cant wait!

CHOOSE LIFE,
NOT PASSIVELY,

Thankful Tuesday: STILL- Forgetting my Woes...

Shewwww
What good 'SERVICE'
does to my heart!
I have posted before about a friend of mine
that is another one of the  greatest examples of a serving person you'll meet.
Now this woman is a
WORKER!
Her undertaking?
A  lady in our church in the process of a divorce, has no place to go
SO
Another lady  (who is an amazing person of service) in our church offered to put her up in a home that needed "a lot" of repair.
My friend organized help for the repair.
Our Youth Group has helped scrape paint off of the outside of the house.
While my friend has painted the entire outside.
Correction: Yesterday two little girls ages 9 and 10  and a 12 yr. old boy with celebro palsy helped with the painting of the back of the house!
Now she is working on the inside.
And a group of us went to help paint with her yesterday.
I have to include that this undertaking has been
a HUGE family effort of the one who is donating the house to this woman to live in.
Which is another AMAZING story in it self...
It is heart warming to see the LOVE that is shown to a woman who has no where to go.
After having a week of
Woe is ME...
It felt good to get out and do something for someone else.

Thankful Thursday: Chit Chat

I am Thankful for
CHIT CHAT...
Today at the beauty parlor.
"WAKE UP SHARON,"
I wanted to scream.
For
when I came out,
I felt
ABUNDANTLY
HUMBLE.
I had to say a prayer.
A sincere
prayer.
How selfish I've been this week
to think
"woe, is me"
God bless those people who have challenges greater than mine.
I AM
GRATEFUL
TODAY
for my insignificant challenges.
YES
It seems
my friends,
we all stand in line.
So for
TODAY,
shhhhhhhhh
I'm praying for my friends,
at the beauty shop.
And for
GOD
who allowed me to see
an others
heartache.
I won't complain for a very long time...
For The things I saw
today,
 I am
HUMBLE

Even when you have gone as far as you can, and everything hurts, and you are staring at the specter of self-doubt, you can find a bit more strength deep inside you, if you look closely enough. -Hal Higdon

Thankful Tuesday: For positive thoughts

Feeling a lttle sad...
Found this scripture in Isaiah:
It's awesome how God speaks to us when we are at a LOW point.
Isaiah 55: 9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts are NOT your thoughts.
My interpretation today:
Christ's thoughts are positive thoughts
and  my own are thoughts of doubting thoughts
of my own abilities, and worthiness.
The whole chapter 55 is AMAZING
a clear message that if you follow Christ in righteousness
he will pour out his tender mercies.
We all make mistakes
and for that reason
Hebrew 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
he has paid the price for our sin and he will never, never give up on us.
I love when I feel the scriptures are speaking to me.
This Chapter has so many MORE treasures.
I can see why in the Book of Mormon
it says in reference to Isaiah
3 Nephi 23: 1-2
(Christ speaking) And now, behold, I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things,
Yea, a commandment I give unto you that search these things diligently;
for GREAT ARE THE WORDS ARE ISAIAH.
For surely he spake as touching all things concerning my people which are of the house of Israel:
therefore it must needs be that he must speak also to the Gentiles. (us)
I love reading all the scriptures we have available side by side.
Comparing every scripture together makes the scriptures a clear message to understand.
I know that God continues to reveal great and important truths.
Isaiah has so many important messages for our day.
FOR THIS I AM THANKFUL

p.s I am almost finish with Isaiah!
I LOVE ISAIAH!
