UPDATE: We passed " the white glove test"

Well,
Mr. Clark let me know that we were having an "INSPECTOR"
come to the house.
Another in the preparation for
Peritoneal Dialysis
(at home)
So of course I hustled to get the house ready.
Worried that it was going to be a
"WHITE GLOVE" test!
Hee- Hee
Every one needs this SCARE once in a while!
Sooooo here is all it was:
"Do you have 3 pronged plugs?"
&
"Do you have room for the supplies?
Can I see where you will fit all the supplies?"
SHEW..............
The best news????
He really made Mr. Clark at ease about the whole process.
We both felt like a burden had been lifted.
CAN'T WAIT FOR MR. CLARK TO GET SOME RELIEF!!!!!
No more excess water. A little more energy, &  a little break from the STRICT diet
(he can introduce Potatoes and Tomatoes in moderation)
And he must eat 'ALOT' of protein.
Woo-hoooooo!
Oh, the little things mean so much!
Another tidbit:
Mr. Clark is going to be-able to do "all-night" dialysis
(everynight)
after 2 months of 4 times a day.
(everyday)
AND...
The nurse that came by said,
"Our bed sits too high"
Sooooooooo
We are going shopping for a new bedroom set.
Did I say "S-H-O-P-P-I-N-G"????
OH YA!!!

Thankful Thursday: Our Team!

It takes a TEAM to
Keep us going!
Mr. Clark and I have often talked about what an AWESOME
TEAM OF DOCTORS
WE HAVE.
WOW,
We know we are in Kansas for a reason.
For Example:
The miracle of Mr. Clark's eyes?
Kansas in one of the *few places that even offer the Treatment Mr. Clark has received.
Our Doctor's latest quote,
"Advances have come so far that there is even a transplant now to fix this condition of your eyes"
Our Regular Doctor whom WE *LOVE!
Who, like NO OTHER Doctor we've ever been too is our ADVOCATE, MENTOR.
Seriously, he is beyond amazing.
*Who recommended the expertise of our Heart Specialist (who when you say his name people say, "ah, he is among the BEST"
who also recommended the Kidney Doctor
who knew of a Diabetic Doctor (who has been the ONLY Doctor that * would recommend a diabetic pump). Would have saved Mr. Clark's LIFE 15 years ago if we would have had a Doctor that was out for his best interest...
The Kidney Doctor also *referring us to the surgeon or is one of the few that is trained by the BEST  as  a transplant surgeon.
Our Insurance who referred us to:
 Kansas University Medical Center
who is among the BEST in the Country.
And the added benefit:
Mr. Clark LOVES and APPRECIATES
them all.
For these series of MIRACLES
WE ARE THANKFUL!

Thankful Tuesday: Our Memorable Valentines

Mr Clark and I spent our Valentines Day/ Night HERE:
More commonly known as WESTLEY MEDICAL CENTER. A VERY EXPENSIVE Day/night out. ROOM SERVICE exquisite! All cuddly on a TWIN air bed. On the 7th floor with a beautiful view of (not the beach) WICHITA!
Well this VALENTINES will be memorable!  It's only fitting that on this HEART day, Mr Clark's HEART remains STRONG. He  IS NOT drowning in fluid. Shew.... He was admitted with possible congestive heart failure.  After the test were done. No congestive heart failure. Maybe sleep apnoea or heart burn?  Medication was changed and hopefully he can sleep/breathe now in  more than just  standing up. The doctors decided NOT to start dialysis today. He would have had to put a shunt in his neck to do blood dialysis(yet another surgery). They felt he was stable enough to wait two weeks. Where he can continue with the peritoneal through the port already placed but still laying under the skin. Confusing? YES. Keep him in your prayers. We feel them! We feel BLESSED that everything is OK for now.
Our thoughts this weekend? -- Mr. Clark, "I'm worried I won't be here to see my Grandson be born", Me : " Well just think what a celebration it will be when you are here with your Grandson and all is well"
We'll take the good Valentines day's and the bad Valentines day's ~ together, for this we are THANKFUL.

Update on Mr. Clarks Ordeal

Here is an update about Mr. Clark. I know its a confusing process we are going through so hear is the scoop.

The news is we are officially accepted at Kansas University. MED. for a  KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

1- He is advancing in the process  to be on the Transplant Team of recipients.
1- He still has to finish the heart testing - He will have it completed by the 17th of Feb.
2- We will travel to Kansas City to start the Transplant analysis-

We will keep you posted.

Now for the dialysis:

He had the surgery to insert the PORT for the dialysis. It is in his stomach.  It will take about a month to heal and then he will actually start the dialysis.

There are two kinds of dialysis. Blood (which is what they do at a dialysis center. ) He is fortunate to start on the liquid dialysis which is called peritoneal dialysis. If by chance he needs dialysis before his stomach heals its not a problem to do the blood dialysis before.

We are fortunate to get to be on PERITONEAL Dialysis. This means it is less confining in location, we can take it with us and we won't have to find dialysis centers everywhere we go.
He can do it at home. 3-4 times a day EVERYDAY. Sounds harsh but it is easier on your body than going to a dialysis center 3 times a week.  He plans on still feeling well enough to work.

In the mean time we will be working hard to get a Kidney Transplant. It is possible that he can also have a pancreas transplant at the same time that he has the kidney transplant. You know what that means? Yes, it is a scary thought.   It is very hard to think that someone would die for this to happen.  We will be praying that what ever is Gods will for him will happen.

We appreciate everyone that has came forward  to donate to Mr. Clark  It is very humbling to us to know that so many would make this sacrifice. We will keep you updated when it comes down to testing to find someone that is a match for him.

Thankful Tuesday: Snow Drifts and Cold Temperatures

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it's cold outside!
What a contrast from Saturday.
It was a beautiful 60 degrees and I spent a beautiful weekend with my brother. We spent some time in the hospital waiting room. And Taking care of Mr. Clark. (So glad he was here)
Surgery for Mr. Clark went well.
And this:

This is a little school house near Cottonwood Falls, Ks (just north of where I live) where Our Great Grandfather went to school.

NOW
I am Hanging out with Mr. Clark who is healing well btw.
He went into work today for a few hours.
We are watching out the window at the SNOW accumulating and the wind making BEAUTIFUL DRIFTS!
As the wind is swirling around, the drifts look like ocean waves moving up and down.
So soothing.
I'll be watching out the window  tomorrow too.
(school is out again )
So Thankful for Snow Drifts and Cold Temperatures.
As long as we are warm and comfy inside!
Mmmmmmmmmmm
It's a  Homemade Bread and Soup day!
My favorite.
SNOWDAYS...
Nothing better than x-tra days off to be with my honey.
For this I am Thankful!
