THANKFUL TUESDAY: I'm smiling and grumbling????

Oooo -- I might have the GRrrrrrssss today????
Yep,
First thing this morning
I rushed to the County Building
to tag (lisence)my car.
Yep,
it's the last day of the month.
I anticipated a line.
But to my dismay
I was the first one there.
Yay,
and then...
the new person helping me noticed that the registration needed
2 signatures.
My first response?
WHAT? Our names don't include a
and/or???
with a gnarly face.
HOW EMBARRASSING (the gnarly face)...
So
I waited for Mr. Clark to get out of the refinery so that he could sign his name.
Made my trek back to the County Building
Only to find out that
It "DOES" have the and/or.
Still
I embarrassed myself grumbling under my breath (sorta).
btw- I apologized... Although she made a mistake
I probably didn't make her day with my gnarl..
Sorry County People
I'm sure you get that all day!
My first clue, "I might have the
Grrrssssss.
Never the less
I AM THANKFUL
to get my car tagged :)
BUT
when I tried to get home...
Our road is being tore up.
THIS IS A GOOD THING!
You see,
our road has OUTRAGEOUS POT HOLES!
yes, it might be the reason a four wheel drive is a must! LOL
I could go on for a day about
how HIGH KANSAS TAXES ARE
and how "RIDICULOUS"
(I love that word! Elder Holly's fav. word! LOL)
"SPECIALS" are when it comes to road maintenance...
It had to get to this point to be
THANKFUL
I GET to pay for a nice road
(when we get a real road)
and
to have no road, rather then a pot hole road!
My point is...
It's possible to have the GRrrssssss
and
still be SMILING :)
and Thankful that this is all I have to grumble about...

Coconut Crazy!

Found a Yummy recipe today! Check it out here: Party Starters: Tasty Treats Thursday {Kathia's Macaroons} I had to run to the store to buy COCONUT! And here are the results ( in a second I'll show my own pics.) Yes! I AM COCONUT CRAZY so this one is a KEEPER!

Thankful Thursday: No fear?

Still no news...
Today, I had a CT scan. Drank the dreaded drink and had an IV of Radiation put into my body and then
the "TUNNEL" scan!
NO BIG DEAL...
except the radiologist ask me if I had reactions to the dye. Hmmmmm Didn't really want to speak up about it. I don't really like bringing up the ooopsies of the past.
I was hoping 3's not the charm?
I told her my story. (which I am getting to HATE repeating) and then I began to fear.
I closed my eyes and prayed, "please Dear Lord, NO trouble today!"
Just a 'little' fear.
geez
(that's an understatement)
Those of you who know my history?
For you who don't
Yep,
Code blue
with a simple IV poke
and a routine angeogram
My prayer was answered! SHEW made it through that test...
It is COMPLICATED being a WOMAN...
when heredity play's a big role.
Dear Mom,
I don't want to go through what you did :(
JUST A ROUTINE TEST...

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Thankful Tuesday: For things I DON'T know :)

Today I had blood work...
The dreaded ca-125
"Ovarian Cancer test"
It's a routine test
because I'm being CAUTIOUS
Is it better to not know?
If I know I can FIGHT
Tomorrow I can move forward!
On my mind...
My Relationship with Jesus Christ
My Husband,
My Children,
My grandchildren and future grandchildren.
thinking...
Tomorrow if the news is good or bad...
I WILL BE GLAD FOR LIFE
I will be happy for each new day.
I will have OPTIMISM
but...
Just so you know
In my opinion
it's good to be a little pessimistic--
I am prepared for tomorrow.
Plan A and Plan B are in line.
What ever will be, will be.
SO TODAY
I'll focus on being
thankful for things
I DON'T KNOW!
and advanced technology
SO I WILL KNOW...

Thankful Tuesday: For Peaches, mmmmmm

1 box down/12 quarts--1 to go... HOW DID I EVER DO HUNDREDS OF QUARTS????
Why am I thankful for Peaches?
Once again, BECAUSE I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!
And....
It makes me think of my Mom and Dad.
This was my life growing up.
Productivity
Mom and Dad grew everything possible.
My Mom was a canner
a canner? is a person who puts everything in bottles or
packages for the freezer.
My Dad was an exceptional GARDENER
This was life on the Baker Acre.
For the coming year.
We are talking HUNDREDS of Bottled Peaches
Tomatoes, Apricots, Cherries, Jam, Green Beans, Beets
Even Turkey etc.
It became a neighborhood activity.
During the harvest season you would find the whole
neighborhood.
In a circle around our back lawn
Husking Corn, Podding Peas, or Snapping Beans.
Hard Work
GOOD TIMES!
When I was married
the tradition continued.
When we transferred out of Utah,
and our children were raised.
I gave all my bottles away.
So today,
I am searching for a few bottles to can
my two boxes of peaches!
Not that its cheaper,
If you don't grow your own
its too expensive to can.
This is in memory...
of the
GOOD OL' DAYS
With Mom and Dad always
supplying our little family
with a years supply of
DELICIOUS FOOD From the GARDEN!
Thank you Mom and Dad
for your hard work in supplying
yummy food for our table.
Also, for teaching me to
Preserve food.
It has been Godsend for our family
XO

My Shredding Party

Woo Hoo! So far 2 file boxes complete! 3 to Go-
I took the"Prepared Not Scared" challenge! It is 'THROW AWAY 20 THINGS A DAY" challenge! This was stacked in my walk-in closet. --One bin is "My file" Yes, I am 'the most unorganized person' when it comes to Filing... oh wait a minute--- ok, I am a unorganized person!
This is the box of stuff to be shredded. Doesn't look like a huge amount? WRONG, I took the day yesterday and SHREDDED what I could. Seriously I NEED A MATCH! and I need to promise myself I will shred daily when the mail comes in. I shred anything with our name on it. Soooooooo I throw all of the dumb advertisements in this -to shred box. Yesterday, I also shredded old medical records, very old... and saved perscription reciepts and... the list goes on. But--- I filled the box again after going through the file. And this time, I am going to either go to Mr. Clarks office to use their massive shredder or take it to a place that shredds things by the pound. Either way... I'm a getting through this "CLUTTER"! Pics to follow!
****This is the guest bedroom so the clutter can stay there just one more day!
Where oh where is the?
I've been looking for that how long?
What in the World was I thinkin'?
1- Weight Watchers slider? - in the Polaris registration File?
2- My recipe for fruit slush? in the taxes File?
ENOUGH SAID...
UPDATE: This is not a fun party. After a full 2 days (actually all week) going through the dreaded papers--- you couldn't tell if I'm making progress...
OK minimal progress. My children will thank me when I die!
Just tell them, "IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE"
Oh I don't even want to think about the recipe box... or the picture boxes. If I can't be found? Pretty sure I'm buried in the guest bedroom :(
PS I'm great at throwing things away! Just not organizing the left overs...

THE PRAYER josh groban y charlotte church

Thankful Thursday: He "knows" what you're going through.

Yet again, another death among our circle of friends. Six now within Mr. Clarks fellow workers within a 3 month time. Out of just 28 workers. This time a Son of wonderful Parents. I feel Christ is the only one that could know our suffering. We are not "ALONE" Prayers of comfort to ALL those that mourn. I can't imagine your pain. XO

MY SECRET IS DRIVING ME CRAZY--- especially today!

Thankful Tuesday: People who cross my path.

This morning I've been mowing over what I am thankful for. Well.... here are my thoughts-- a broken record again! -- this is it!
How lucky am I
to have acquaintances
who make me smile
everyday.
Who remind me,
Life would not be the same without them.
For the people that have cross my path
and bring
SUNSHINE
to each day.
(including my Facebook Friends :)
Last week I met:
Cassandra (who has two beautiful new babies boys)
It is so fun to meet strangers that the second you see them you feel they are your family!
For Brooke (a new college student)
I am amazed at their loving Parents/Friends who would seek people of the same faith to look out after them.
This week: For Morgan, her life gives me courage to keep on keepin' on.
Sweet, Sweet girl who has a positive attitude and Smile that is contagious.
How comforting that no matter where you go you can count on a
Safe Haven
With in your church.
and of course
I love blogging!
I love crossing paths with people
check out: "PARTY STARTERS" (top side bar)
She got to meet her blogger friends
and Martha Stewart!

Love it!
These people--
INSPIRE ME!
For this I am THANKFUL!

Oklahoma City Oklahoma LDS (Mormon) Temple - Mormons

Last Saturday I was able to go to the Oklahoma temple. One of 146 around the world. Such a beautiful place to be. You will never get any PEACE at another place in the world. As I was in the session I had this thought, " WE ARE MEANT TO HAVE JOY" I can only say that this was the calm before the storm. It's hard to find JOY when people around you have such trials . The Joy that I've found this week was in Service to Others. . . Time does not heal all wounds (my personal view) but looking for another one in need- helps. This just in from my niece Brittany W . I LOVE IT: "It has been said, "time heals all wounds." I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone." Rose Kennedy Thanks Britt, Exactly What I believe!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHOUT TO MY GRANDMA

OOps I always get these birthdays confused. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!

Wishin' I could blog about nothing...

Another tragedy in our circle of friends. Prayers for Destiny's family. Heart breaking that her Father passed away. Has it ever been a hard summer for family and friends. It's has been tragic for so many of my dear friends. I am wishin' I could be blogging about the sunny day's and mowing the lawn, or the joy of eating corn on cob until I'm sick and cookie dough. For my dearest friends the world has stopped. Again on Sunday, studying the stories in the bible. This week about Eliza and Elisha, I wanted to cry uncontrollably. Oh wait a minute, I did. Especially when we sang the song "I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR" in church, I couldn't get through it this week. Thinking of those who have lost their fathers/husbands and knowing that they would be pleading to God to 'stand thou near by' and remembering sitting next to my own Father 1 week before his heart surgery. He was telling me if something happened to him, he was ready to die. I remember weeping telling him not to leave me. So in the scriptures when Elisha was pleading for his father not to go. I feel I understand. It's something when the death of someones loved ones makes you reflect on a similar experience. Prayers for my friends right now. We all have our own grief. No one can know what each individual faces. Thank goodness for the knowledge that Heaven is real, we will see our loved ones again. Thank goodness we have had people in our lives that we LOVE so much. What a blessing.
